Alp Turgut

British-Turkish photographer and filmmaker Alp Turgut is known for his cinematic black-and-white street and documentary photography, focusing on human presence and the quiet narratives found within everyday life.

Based in London, Turgut photographs the fleeting gestures, expressions and encounters that often pass unnoticed. Each day, he searches for scenes in which time appears to pause and reality takes on a cinematic quality. His photographs invite the viewer to slow down, spend time with the image and become lost within the frame.

His work explores individuality, human connection and the relationship between people and the cities they inhabit. Moving between instinctive observation and carefully considered composition, Turgut finds atmosphere, emotion and visual tension within the familiar rhythms of urban life.

Before establishing his photographic and filmmaking practice, Turgut built an international career in design and visual storytelling, collaborating with globally recognised organisations including Nike, Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Benz, Atlassian and Virgin Media O2. Alp was the Founding Product Designer of Runna, a leading running and fitness app that nominated “App of the Year” by Apple and has reached hundreds of thousands of users worldwide. This background continues to shape his distinctive visual language, combining spontaneous observation with a precise understanding of composition, form and narrative.

Working across cities including London, New York, Tokyo, Berlin and Lisbon, his photography is less concerned with simply documenting a place than with preserving the brief, unrepeatable moments in which character, emotion and environment align.

Turgut’s photographs have been exhibited in London, including at Photobook Café and Darkroom Socials. His work has also gained international recognition through the Exposure One Awards, reFocus Awards and the World Street Photography Awards, including multiple awards.

His filmmaking extends the same visual and emotional sensibility into moving image. Influenced by cinema, mythology and the emotional experience of place, he develops narrative projects that explore memory, identity and the timeless dimensions of human experience.

His work is available as limited-edition fine art prints and for selected exhibitions, publications, commissions and creative collaborations.
